I had a tough last week battling an illness (second time this year, ugh!) and just plain being super busy at work, so my craft time suffered. Thankfully I finished this card before my crazy week. This is because it was for a very special person. My mom! Her birthday is actually on Valentines day and I know she has always received heart themed or red/white/pink themed cards because the holiday and her birthday coincide. I wanted to be sure to use a color scheme and theme that was totally different and came up with this:
I am happy to say she really liked it. To make this card I used the Garden in Bloom stamp set which is fun because it is a three-step set. Each flower stamped took three different stamps to make. I started by doing the inside of the flower in Hello Honey stamped off once. Then I stamped the outline over it in the same color without stamping off. The center of the flower was stamped in Crumb Cake but then I chose to go over it with the Gold Wink of Stella to give it some pop. It is hard to see this element in the photo, but it made it really cute. I chose to fussy cut the flowers so I could place then wherever I wanted to on the card. The patterned paper is from the English Garden DSP and I chose these two patterns because I thought they coordinated well. The sentiment is from Perfect Parings stamp set which is part of the Sale-A-Bration freebies selection.
Speaking of Sale-A-Bration, we have new items available! Check out the new things you can get with each $50.00 purchase now through March 31, 2016:
Such cuteness! I just might have at least one more $50.00 order myself to get one of these goodies.
The fun doesn’t stop there as the weekly deals start new today as well:
I hope all these new products you are seeing on my blog today give you inspiration. Go be crafty if you can!
Hi there my crafty friends!
I have a super cute card to share with you today! I am also pretty excited to report that I am a guest stamper this week over at What Will You Stamp?!! Have you visited their challenge blog? They have lots of great ideas to share and that will really help you get plenty of use out of your stamp sets. The theme this week is Barnyard babies so check out this cute card!
I made this card for my Stepdaughter’s birthday. She ADORES goats so I knew when I saw this stamp set, I had to have it. I did choose to color in my goat with Blendabilities. Although they are no longer available through Stampin’ Up, you could easily use a blender pen and ink pad and get a pretty similar result. I just hate not using stuff when I have it and it works, so that is what I did! The cute little balloon is from the Beautiful Ride stamp set. The balloon was punched out using the balloon punch from the Party Punch Pack. The cloud paper is part of the Sweet Lil’ Things DSP. It sure works perfect on this card, doesn’t it?
Remember, You can get lots more ideas of how to use this stamp set if you head over to What Will You Stamp?. Just click on the badge below to see them all and participate in the challenge!
If you participate in the challenge you have a chance to be a guest stamper too!
Hope you get to be crafty today!
Hello my friends!
The weekend is almost here! You would not believe what I am about to do….go camping! Yes, in the middle of February I am going camping! I live near Chicago, but I am traveling six hours south to my hometown for a Girl Scout reunion at the summer camp I worked at oh so many years ago. The good news is I will be in a cabin and a little further south than Chicago! I am even bring my card supplies so me and my fellow former scouts can make cards!
Now onto the the Valentine!
When I saw the Beautiful Ride Stamp set, it was a must have. You see, my husband and I play slugbug every single time we are in the car together. Everyday starts a new “contest” and whoever claims the most slugbugs by the end of the day wins. We have some additional fun rules like Geek Squad mobiles are worth double points. So it was not even a question that his Valentine had to be a slug bug car.
I decided the car had to be red, since it IS his Valentine. To color in the car I pushed into the top of my stamp pad (Real Red) and added a small amount of water. I then used a fine paint brush to add in the color. Sometimes I use the aquapainter, but I was not using watercolor paper for this project so I wanted to control the amount of water a bit more. I actually sponged in Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi as the sky and grass after I had already stamped and colored the car and I think it worked pretty well. My husband has black hair and mine is quite dark brown so I tried to mimic that when coloring the people on the car. I used my blendabilities to color us in. 🙂 You can’t quite see it in the above picture, but I added lots of clear Wink of Stella to this card. Here is the close up so you can see where:
Hopefully you can see that I added Wink of Stella down the lines of the “my” hair, on the tires and on the silver foot rail. It adds just enough sparkle to make the card a little more magical. 😉
My husband does not really get super excited about cards, but I think this Valentine just might get to him a little bit more than usual.
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine Weekend!
Happy Tuesday Crafty Friends!
You know those times when you see a craft product and just know you will love it? That was what I thought when I saw the Rose Garden Thinlits. They help you make the most elegant cards and truly get creative with what you can do. My sample card is simple, but classic, and easily used for many occasions.
The thinlits come with this smaller rose and those separate petals, but also has a larger one with leaves attached that is just as pretty. You can see in the background I also used a stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set to give the card a little more dimension. This is another fantastic stamp set to have as it can be used for backgrounds and layered stamping for many projects, even scrapbooking! I will likely be sharing a card using primarily that set sometime soon. The stripped paper is part of the Neutral Color Collection Paper pack and I think it really pops with the Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss cardstock. The sentiment is part of the Rose Wonder stamp set that coordinates perfectly with the thinlits.
I highly recommend adding this thinlit to your stamping supplies!
Since it is Tuesday it is Weekly deal time!
I am totally eyeballing that Bermuda Bay Sequin trim!
That is all for me today. Go be crafty if you can!
Hi Crafty Friends!
I have a wedding card to share with you today. I actually decided to use the template from my prior valentine card to make this one, so it may look like something you have seen before.
I love the look of the Monochromatic cards when you need something elegant. I think this card fits that category quite well. I will start by confessing that the background paper is actually last years freebie Sale-A-Bration paper, BUT you could easily replace that with the Color Irresistible paper we currently have available as there are some wonderful white on white patterns in that DSP pack. I cut the heart out with the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit in Whisper White. The vellum layer is part of the Silver Fancy Foil Vellum which has stripes, dots and these cute little hearts for the designs. The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and it has matching framlits. That is how I cut out the adorable shape on which the sentiment is stamped. I did use versamark ink and silver embossed it to keep the silver and white theme intact.
It is a beautiful card ready the the next lucky couple in my life who gets married!
The weekly deals came out on Tuesday so I am a bit later, but here they are:
Hope your week has gone smoothly. Not long and the weekend will be here which means more craft time for me. Yay!
