Stampin’ Up! Sparkling Valentine with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits

Hi Crafty Friends!

February is here which means love is in the air!  Are you busy thinking about those you love? I am, which prompted me to come up with a simple Valentine’s Day card.

I wanted to see if I could come up with a Valentine using many of products I already had on hand.  I should mention there is one lovely new item on this card, and that is the Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  You can’t go wrong with stripes, right?  The bigger heart was made using Cherry Cobbler and Powder Pink ink and my Aqua painter.  I continued with the stripped theme using light strokes on watercolor paper. Once I had a look that I liked I cut it out with a heart from the Sweet and Sassy Framelits.  To make the other heart I started with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and colored it in with my Cherry Cobbler Blends marker.  I must be sure to note that you have to be VERY careful if you choose to try this.  The glimmer paper is very coarse and the blends marker tip is easily frayed on a surface of this nature.  I found that if I made very light strokes in one direction it seemed to work fine without damaging the tip of the marker.  I was very happy with the result because it is a different color than a true red glitter paper. The heart I used to cut out the Glimmer Paper is part of the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.  For the sentiment I used the love, also from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits; and the You from the Celebrate You Thinlits set.  This is a Sale-A-Bration item you can get when you spend $100.00.  I guess that is one other new item I used after all!  I did add some Clear Wink of Stella over the top of the YOU so it would pop a little better. To finish things off I added Glitter Enamel Dots in the lighter Berry Burst color.  The card stock used is Powder Pink, Whisper White and Sahara Sand.

Did this give you some inspiration to get to work on your Valentine cards?  I hope so!
