A new embossing technique and a challenge with the Timeless Tidings stamp set!

Good evening Crafty Friends!

I have been spending some time being crafty today and tried my hand at a fun, new embossing technique. This is definitely technique you should try! I had heard of others embossing with their tear & tape so I wanted to see what it might look like.  I must say it looks pretty cool!

See the gold stripes in each corner? Those are pieces of tear & tape that I embossed with Gold Embossing powder.  It has this really cool crackled look to it.  To do this you just lay the tear & tape down on the card and then remove the top of the tape backing so the sticky side is exposed.  Then you pour on the embossing powder, shake off the excess, and heat it with your heat tool.  You are really just using the tear & tape in place of versamark stamping.  So easy, right? Stampin’ Up! Tear & Tape is a very sticky double sided adhesive tape, so it really grabs onto the embossing powder well! You could make all kinds of designs so give it a try! The rest of the card is pretty simple.  I used a sentiment from the Timeless Tidings stamp set.  This set has many great sentiments if you need to add some to your supplies!  The pretty poinsettia paper is part of the Joyous Noel DSP.  I used Gold Foil paper and Merry Merlot Card stock.  The sentiment and the tear & tape is on Very Vanilla Card Stock which goes perfectly with the pretty Gold 3/8 inch Metallic-Edge Ribbon available in the annual catalog.

I also got inspiration from the challenge over at CAS-UAL Fridays!  I haven’t looked at challenges in forever so it seems like a good place to get inspiration! Go check out all the pretty cards being entered in the challenge by clicking here.

I hope this easy card gives you some inspiration to try the new embossing technique!

  1. Oh, my!! I’m definitely going to have to try this technique! I just made a crafting area in my bedroom so I can spread out and try more things. This will be one of the first. So many possibilities.

  2. Wow, this is gorgeous. Love the gold embossing technique too! What a lovely way to interpret the challenge sketch. Thank you for joining us at CAS-ual fridays. Hugs, Ishani.
