Farmhouse Christmas…er…Halloween? Yes!!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have a fun card to share with you today!  This is one of those times I took a stamp set in a whole other direction and I am pretty happy with the outcome!

This is a great example of turning a Christmas set into Halloween!

I should be sure and mention that this card is not for individuals who want quick and easy.  There is fussy cutting, coloring, fussy placement and more, but it is a great card to give to someone special!  I know who I am sending it to because I am certain they will appreciate it!

To make this card I started with a Smoky Slate base cut at 5 x 4 inches.  I then stamped the house, and the tree from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set in memento ink. I colored these in with Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake, and Daffodil Delight Blends.  I tried to make the windows look more spooky by using a mix of Smokey Slate and Daffodil Delight.  To make the hills I just randomly cut out pieces of crumb cake until I liked the shapes.  I wanted the house to appear to be further away from the fence. These multiple layers of card stock give the appearance of distance.  I then used my sponge dauber and smokey slate  ink and went over the house, the tree, the hills and the background.  To make the moon I punched out a Whisper White circle with my 1 1/4 inch circle punch.  I then used Daffodil Delight to light go over it in a circle.  I have to say the moon looks much brighter in this picture than it does in person.  Next, it was time for some fussy cutting.  Those tiny little ghosts are part of the Toil and Trouble DSP.  I just took my time to cut each one out.  They look so cute all over the house and tree! I then used the fence die, that is part of the Farmhouse Framelits, to cut out the fence.  After I cut it I carefully crunched up the fence so it looks more weathered.  Once I had it adhered to my card I also used my Take Your Pick tool to mess it up some. (By the way, if you don’t have this tool yet you need it!) The last thing I did is stamp the Happy Halloween sentiment from the Cauldron Bubble stamp set and make it into a banner.

So what do you think?  Does this give you ideas of how to extend the use of your stamps?  We must always remember to get creative with our supplies.

Stampin’ Up! Country Home and Tin Tile Embossing folder

Hi Crafty Friends,

The new Holiday catalog is so chocked full of wonderful new stamp sets it is very hard to decide what to use next!  One very popular new set is the Country Home stamp set.  If you do a search on pinterest you will find loads of wonderful creative ideas already available to CASE.  Here is my first creation using this set:

This stamp set offers you many ways to truly make a pretty, country inspired card.  The new Tin Tile Embossing folder is AWESOME!  It looks just like that old fashioned tin tile roof we used to see in the stores of yesteryear.  I have seen so many truly amazing creations to get a distressed look on this.  I used the new Galvanized Metallic Paper with the embossing folder and then adding some Gray Granite over the top with a dauber to give it only a slight tinge of being worn.  It is hard to see it in this photo.  The old style milk can was stamped in memento ink and then colored in with Smoky Slate light and dark Blends.  I tried to make it appear the light was hitting the can from the left and added more shading to the right side.  The thanks sentiment is one of 4 options that fit in the oval label stamp.  There are two different flower arrangement options in this stamp set, but I chose the one with plenty of leaves.  I colored those in with Old Olive Blends and the Flower was colored in Rich Razzleberry Blends.  The Cat Tails were colored in with Crumb Cake Blends.  I decided to add a doily  to the back o the stamped image and finished it off with the new Galvanized Metal Buttons and some Linen Thread.

If you get this stamp set you could easily make it rustic, country and maybe even a little elegant.

I hope this helps you find some inspiration in your crafts!

Stampin’ Up! 2018-2019 Annual Catalog Sneak Peek!!

Hi Crafty Friends!

Are you ready for a sneak peek of goodies from the new catalog?  You are?  Good! I have one for you!  There is so much to be excited about in this new catalog since we have a new color revamp, new in-colors and of course lots of new stamp sets and other goodies!  So check out my first creation using some of the new In-Colors and a new Stamp set that will be available to you as of June 1st!

I used three new In-Colors to make this card. They are: Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover and Pineapple Punch.  They are some perfect colors for summer! The stamp set I used is called Big Wishes and it has this and three other fun stamps that will be great for the birthdays you have coming up.  The pretty DSP I used is the new In-Color DSP. They now offer this in the 6×6 size so it is a bit easier to store! The fun fold I make allows the card to sit upright so it could be displayed on a desk.  It opens in the back and there is room to write on the card there. To make this fold I started with a half sheet of cardstock and scored it in landscape position at 1-1/2”, 2-3/4”, 5-3/4” and
7” I want to be sure and mention I got this measurements and some inspiration for this card from Linda Heller with Stamping School.  Check out her webpage if you haven’t already! To make the two-toned appearance on this stamp set I used one of the most exciting new products, The Stamparatus! This is a super awesome stamping tool that helps you get your images stamped perfectly.  Using this tool I was able to re-stamp the image multiple times to ensure my colors were nice and bright.  I also was able to leave the stamp in place and add the two colors separately. You can’t even tell I did which really makes this tool awesome!  To really see how the Stamparatus works check out this video for an introduction:

You can see all 4 of the videos in this series if you check out the Stampin’ Up! you tube channel and search for Stamparatus.

I hope you have enjoyed this sneak peek of the new catalog items. It is only a week away and you will be able to shop for all the goodies in the catalog!

A Magical Unicorn Birthday Card!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have a creation that showcases some fun products from the New 2018 Occasions catalog! This card is filled with color and magic!

This unicorn is so cute!  She was colored in using many of the awesome blends we have to get that rainbow mane.  This stamp is from the new stamp set Magical Day which is full of magical characters!  I plan to make a few more cards with this set because it is super fun to use the Blends to color in the characters. All the characters in the set have framelits to match too!  To make the pink and blue swished background I just lightly brushed my Blends in Pool Party and Pink Pirouette across Whisper White paper. I also added in some clear Wink of Stella.  Then I used the star stamps from the same stamp set to make a design with the stars in both Pool Party and Powder Pink.  I then cut circles out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and the New Myths and Magic Specialty paper.  I also cut a slightly smaller circle for the sentiment in Whisper White.  The sentiment used is from the Magical Mermaid stamp set and it was stamped in Melon Mambo.  I wanted to add some more whimsy so I used the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits to cut out random shapes in Powder pink.  I finished things off by adding Glitter Enamel Dots and layering the focal point on Powder Pink and Pool Party Paper.

The Magical Day stamp set is truly the perfect set for making cards for kids.  Well, maybe even adults who are kids at heart too.  🙂

I hope you are checking out the many adorable items available in the new catalog. Remember, if you need a catalog let me know and I can send one your way!
