It is a rainy, gloomy day here in the Chicago suburbs. What better day to be crafting, right??!! I sat down to work on a scrapbook page, but then decided that maybe I would see if I could work on the Sunday Sketch challenge from Operation Write Home first. I have to say that I LOVE this Sketch!! Anything a little off the beaten path is the place for me!
Don’t you just love the diagonal placement of the paper! This card was really easy to make too. You could pull together so many different papers and even use up a few scraps. Supplies for this card include:
- My Mind’s Eye Chalk Studio line Basics Paper Pad
- Whisper white from Stampin’ up and Natural from Paper Studio
- Gee Thanks Stamp from the Really Good Greetings set from Stampin’ up
- Banner die from Stampin’ Up Hearts a Flutter die set
- Enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye chalk studio line
I sure hope they have more sketch’s like this one in the future!
I had a lot of errands to run today and I had to do a little work as well. 🙁 But, I was still able to fit in just a little more crafting before the work week started. Operation Write Home has another cute and simple sketch challenge that I thought would be fun. I even used up some of the paper scraps leftover from yesterday’s card making day. Here it is:
Supplies used for this card include almost all Stampin’ up products this time: Punches: Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack – Flower, 2 3/8 Scallop Circle punch. Sale-a-Bration items – Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and Sweet Sorbet patterned paper. Cardstock: Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Whisper White. Stamp is from the Really Good Greetings set and stamped with Pool Party ink. Candy dots are in the Pool Party color. I used a nestabilities circle die for the white circle.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Happy Friday Peeps!
I am soooooo glad it is Friday! I am enjoying some extended time at my parents house in southern Illinois watching their cats while they are away enjoying sunny CA with my brother. One of the best things about working from home is that I can be mobile so I can work while helping out my parents at the same time. I made sure to pack up all my scrapbook supplies because my best high school friend and I will be scrapping the day away tomorrow and I can’t wait! Since I had all my stuff with me, I decided to give the Operation Write Home midweek throwdown a try. The challenge this week was to use yellow and purple. That didn’t seem too tough so I tried to give myself another challenge…. make a one layer card that still looked complete to me. I always find this to be a challenge. I like some layers on my cards. I feel like it really grounds things. So I struggled at first, but here is what I came up with:
I believe it came out okay, but I still think it could use a layer under the green! Oh well, practice makes perfect I guess. To make this one I used leftover scrap papers I had (though the yellow is So Saffron from Stampin’ up). I used various circle punches and some washi tape to make the banner at the bottom. The stamp is from theSee Ya Later Sale-a-bration set from Stampin’ up which I believe will no longer be available as of Monday!
Since I had paper left from these colors I decided to make one more card for someone I know who is on the mend. Here it is:
I have to admit I like this one much better. Maybe I am one of those people who just needs to make cards with layers. For this one I used the same circle punches (scalloped and regular) all from Stampin’ up and their Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack which is turning out to be very handy for adding tiny little embellishments to things!
Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday and you find time to create today!
Top O’ the Morning to ya and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I decided to take a stab at the Operation Write Home Sunday Sketch a day late. Since it is St. Patrick’s Day, I dug out green papers. The deadline has already passed for Sending OWH St. Patrick’s day Cards, but I figured I could at least use a nice green color in my sketch. Check it out:
Lots of pretty green with just a pop of yellow! I am still using left over pieces of my Paper Pumpkin from last month. It is really fun to try to use the items received in that kit in a different way. This card was pretty simple, just needed to make various cuts of paper and then find an embellishment I liked. I believe this could easily be masculine or feminine.
Alright, time to get to work and earn my pot of gold for today!
I am back home from my scrap weekend retreat feeling good about what I accomplished. It is always so fun to get away and spend quality time being creative. As I finished my last scrap pages, I had a little time left to make a card so I headed over to Operation Write Home to see their Sunday Sketch challenge. It is a multi-layered card that provides another good opportunity to use up scraps. So here is what I pulled together:
Yet another fun and pretty simple card to make. Hopefully it will be a nice masculine card one of the hereos can use.
